Galway SeaFest is one of Ireland’s most exciting maritime festivals, bringing a mix of nautical fun, family-friendly entertainment, and ocean-themed activities to the heart of Galway. And for us, it was also one of the first large family festivals we worked at for years!
With Galway’s stunning harbor as the backdrop, the festival is always buzzing with sea-themed parades, boat tours, interactive exhibits, and an incredible atmosphere. We always loved setting up at this event, painting waves, sea creatures, and ocean-inspired designs as people immersed themselves in the maritime celebrations.
At Galway SeaFest, face painting wasn’t just about adding a bit of fun—it was about bringing the ocean to life through color and creativity!
Mermaids, sea creatures & ocean waves
Sharks, dolphins, and underwater adventures
Nautical symbols like anchors & ship wheels
Bright, vibrant blues, greens & shimmering water effects
One of the best parts of SeaFest was seeing families, kids, and festival-goers fully embrace the ocean theme—whether they were visiting a historic tall ship, watching the water rescue demonstrations, or getting their faces painted before exploring the festival!
Being part of SeaFest for so many years allowed us to grow as artists, perfecting bold yet quick designs that worked for the fast-paced nature of a busy festival. It was also an event where we got to connect with families, other creatives, and festival organizers who were all passionate about celebrating Ireland’s rich maritime history and coastal beauty.
Live music & street performances
Interactive marine exhibits & boat displays
Seafood tastings & ocean conservation talks
High-energy crowds ready to dive into the fun!
It wasn’t just about painting faces—it was about being part of a festival that truly celebrated the magic of the sea and Galway’s deep connection to it.
Though we may not be setting up at SeaFest anymore, we love looking back on the incredible memories we made at this festival. From the sound of seagulls overhead to the salty breeze in the air, everything about Galway SeaFest was special, and we’re grateful we got to be a part of it for so many years.
To everyone who ever stopped by our stall, thank you for being part of our journey—whether you got painted as a mermaid, a shark, or an underwater explorer, we hope you had as much fun as we did!
Stay creative,
Selena, Amber & The Team
