Every year, we look forward to one of the biggest and most exciting family events in Cork—the Cork Summer Show! This event is a two-day extravaganza filled with fun for all ages, featuring everything from vintage vehicles and horse shows to farm animals, a fun fair, and endless stalls—including ours, always located in the Kids’ Zone!

For us, the Cork Summer Show is one of the busiest events of the year—a pay-per-face event where our full team sets up under our marquee, bringing bright, beautiful face painting to hundreds of happy little faces! Our queue is always over an hour and a half long, with non-stop painting from morning till evening. It’s an event we absolutely love being part of, and we’re thrilled to already be booked in for the next date!

Tips for Managing a Busy Queue at Large Events 

For those of you who work at large events as face painters, keeping up with the demand while ensuring quality and efficiency is key. Here are some essential tips for handling a high-traffic event like the Cork Summer Show, whether you’re working solo or with a team:

Line Management is Essential!

• Having a queue system in place is crucial so people know how long the wait is, and it ensures you finish on time without overwhelming yourself.

• If possible, assign a helper or sign to inform parents of wait times, and make sure you take breaks when needed.

Stay Hydrated & Keep Water Clean

• Keep a clean water bottle nearby to refresh your face painting water regularly.

• If you’re working outdoors, pour dirty water onto the grass (if permitted) or use a hidden bucket under your tablecloth to dispose of it neatly.

Sunblock is a Must!

• The Cork Summer Show takes place outdoors during summer, and we’ve been lucky with good weather over the years!

• Wear sunblock to protect your skin, especially if you have another day’s work ahead—sunburn and face painting don’t mix well!

Keep Your Equipment Clean!

• Hygiene is just as important as speed!

• Bring plenty of baby wipes to clean your table, wipe down paint edges, and keep your hands fresh.

• Even when the queue is long, taking a few seconds to sanitize your setup makes a huge difference.
